Manipur: Violence erupts again in Moreh ,1 officer dead in clash
Again a clash erupts in Moreh, Manipur by Kuki militants with security forces. In a fresh violence, one commando lost his life. After Moreh’s tense situation, a curfew was imposed the day after two were held over a cop’s murder.

In response, security forces engaged in retaliatory fire. Unfortunately, one security personnel succumbed to injuries sustained during the encounter, police said. The personnel has been identified as Wangkhem Somorjit, a member of the IRB (Indian Reserve Battalion) associated with the state police commando in Moreh. Wangkhem Somorjit originates from Malom in Imphal West district, as per sources.

whereas Kukis traditionally were not Christian but animist and worship different deities and spirits. But for the last 90(ninety) years majority of them have embraced Christianity as their religion. They have their own customary laws and village council. LAL is a term to denote village chief.
