A person working in the Indian embassy in Russia was found to be allegedly involved in sharing Military secrets with an ISI agent.

After taking into consideration UP ATS arrested India’s Russian embassy employee Satyendra Siwal in Meerut, says he is a Pakistani ISI agent. Satyendra Siwal has been working as an India-based security assistant in the Indian embassy in Moscow since 2021.

According to officials and media information resources, Satyendra Siwal was providing ISI with confidential information regarding strategic activities. Satyendra Siwal was providing the ISI with important confidential information regarding the strategic activities of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Indian military establishments, reported PTI.

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested a man, identified as Satyendra Siwal, working in the Indian embassy in Russia for his alleged involvement in anti-national activities with the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. Satyendra Siwal was arrested from Meerut.

“MEA is aware of the arrest of Satendra Siwal in Uttar Pradesh, who was posted as Security Assistant in the Embassy of India, Moscow. MEA continues to work with the investigative authorities in the matter,” said a source familiar with the development within the Ministry.

UP ATS received intelligence

The incident came to light after the UP ATS received intelligence from several sources suggesting that ISI handlers were luring employees of the ministry of external affairs with money to obtain confidential information. According to the police, the information is likely to pose a big threat to the internal and external security of India.

Upon the inputs, the police began a probe through electronic and physical surveillance. During the investigation, the police found that Siwal, a resident of Shah Mahiuddinpur village, was involved in the anti-India network. Following this, the UP ATS summoned Satyendra Siwal for interrogation.

Siwal failed to give clarification

During questioning on interrogation process, Siwal failed to give “satisfactory” answers and confessed to the crime, reported PTI.

The police have registered an FIR against Siwal under section 121A of the IPC (waging war against the country) and Official Secrets Act 1923 and further investigation is underway.

ATS statement

In a statement, the ATS said, “The UP ATS had received inputs from several confidential sources that the Pakistani spy agency ISI’s handlers had used money to influence some people working at the Foreign Ministry of India to leak top secret information regarding the Indian Army and its strategies.

Who is Satyendra Siwal?

The ATS developed this information and through electronic surveillance and evidence collection, and it was found that Satendra Siwal, a native of the Hapur district of UP, who works at the Foreign Ministry as an MTS (Multi-tasking staff), and is currently posted at the Indian Embassy in Moscow, Russia was involved in this.”

In addition to the statement, “It was found that he was involved with ISI handlers in anti-India activities. He was providing classified information about the Indian Army and military activities to the ISI handlers in exchange for money. He was called to the ATS office in Meerut where he couldn’t give satisfactory answers about the information sent by him. On further interrogation, he confessed to his crime”.

Satyendra Siwal, whose designation at the Indian Embassy in Russia was India-Based Security Assistant, was arrested under Section 121A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Official Secrets Act, 1923. Officials said two mobile phones, one Aadhaar card, one PAN card, one identification document, and Rs 600 in cash were seized from Siwal during the operation.
